Porcelain saucer decorated in blue and white with chrysanthemum flowers which symbolize Longevity because of the health-giving qualities of the plant. The back is covered in a ‘café-au-lait’ glaze and still has a sticker stating that it was auctioned at Sotheby’s. It also has reference numbers which were added by the National Museum of Vietnamese Culture. The saucer formed part of a large haul of porcelain which was discovered in the wreck of a Chinese junk off the coast of Vietnam. Some wine cups on board bear the mark of Yongzheng who was the third emperor of the Qing Dynasty reigning from 1722 to 1735. As a result the saucer dates from around that time. Diameter 11.2 cm.
