Silver amulet in the shape of a coin with a twisted rim. One side shows flower petals, most probably meant to be blossoming peonies (Fu Gui Hua), which are supposed to bring Prosperity (Fu Gui Hua Kai). The peony is known as the flower of Wealth and Honour and the coin shape of this amulet emphasizes the concept of Wealth. The characters ‘Shou Tian Zhi Hu’ (受天之祜) translate to ‘May you receive the Blessings of Heaven’. The amulet dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1912 -1947). Diameter 4.5 cm. Depth of the rim 0.2 cm.
