Red and black lacquered wooden spool with flower paintings in gold on both sides. One side shows a chrysanthemum flower and some plum blossoms. Both flowers are symbols of ‘Longevity’. We have no idea what kind of flowers or berries are depicted on the other side of the spool. The spool dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Length 17.5 cm. Width 4.5 cm.
