Iron temple gong with a text which mentions that it was commissioned by two brothers named Liang Jin and Liang Yin who were goldsmiths in a town called Xi Bao Wang. This kind of gong was usually donated to a monastery where it was used to call for prayer. The text also mentions that it was manufactured in the 7th year of the emperor Qianlong's reign which would put it in the year 1743. It dates from the Qianlong period (1735 - 1796) of the Qing dynasty. Height 34.5 cm. Width 30.5 cm. Depth 2.0 cm. The gong weighs 8 kilograms.
