Ivory bust of an old man with a beard which was bequeathed to us many years ago by an uncle who was a missionary. This kind of carving was quite popular with tourists who visited the Belgian Congo in the first half of the 20th century. We believe that our uncle collected this object during his visits to Congo in the 1930’s but it may also have been earlier. Belgian Congo. Height 14.2 cm. Width 4.7 cm. Depth 5.6 cm.
