We bought this vase about fifty years ago in an antique shop in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. We thought at first that it was polychrome Delft, but it turned out to be Plateel. Most probably this is the only one ever made with this design. It is marked on the bottom Zuid Holland, has a depiction of a ‘Gouda’ house and the numbers 440 and S.202. It is well possible that this unusual and rare item was made at the end of the 19th century or perhaps even earlier. Height 40 cm. Diameter vase 20 cm. Diameter rim 7 cm. Diameter base 14 cm.
