Small folding pocket sundial which has a compartment with a sliding door in the bottom. This compartment holds the needle, a support and an extra disc to mark the correct season. The set is complete and working which is quite unusual because the loose parts are usually gone. It dates from around 1900 when only wealthy people could afford pocket watches and sun dials were still common. The bottom has a lacquer export mark. Length 11.1 cm. Width 5.1 cm. Thickness 1.9 cm.
