Silver pendant and chain. The pendant depicts the God of Longevity, Shou Lao, riding a Deer which is also a symbol of Longevity. Shou Lao holds a Peach (again Longevity) in his hand and is flanked by a Bat flying upside down which symbolizes ‘Blessings have arrived’. The pendant is marked ‘Zu Wen’ (足纹) which means ‘Silver’ on the back. It dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Total length chain 50 cm. Shou Lao height 6.1 cm. Width 4.9 cm. Depth 1.4 cm. Total weight 38 grams.
