Pair of embossed silver earrings decorated with auspicious symbols. We recognize for instance a Crane and a Deer (both symbols of Immortality), Bamboo (Humility & Fidelity), A bald man with a Peach who most probably represents the God of Longevity Shou Lao even though he does not have a beard, and another bald man holding something which looks like a ‘Fly whisk’. If it is a fly whisk (Immortality), the bald man is one of the eight Immortals named Lu Dongbin. Clouds are depicted all around the scene and symbolize the Granting of all Wishes. The rings of the earrings are decorated with flowers which also dangle from very fine chains and Yin & Yang symbols harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment. The rings date from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Diameter 3.3 cm. Width 2.7 cm.
