Silver pendant of a very good quality depicting a boy who raises one leg which in fact symbolizes ‘Stepping up’ expressing a wish for Career Advancement. Together, the Boy and the Raised leg symbolize a wish to have Distinguished sons. The details of this pendant are very nice. We even believe that the boy is wearing a lock around his neck. When a child was about three months old, it was usually given an amulet in the shape of a lock in the hope that the lock would tie the child down to prevent abduction by evil spirits. Wearing a small charm in the shape of a baby boy was supposed to ensure the arrival of a son. This charming figure dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 4.2 cm. Width 1.7 cm. Depth 1.3 cm.
