Necklace with a squatting boy as pendant – (6593)

Necklace and a very charming silver pendant in the shape of a squatting boy with a tablet in his hands. The text on the tablet reads ‘He He Bai Nian’ which translates into ‘Harmony for a 100 years’. His shoulder pads are decorated with Cymbidium flowers which symbolize Friendship and Grandchildren. Two small Clams (Profits) and a ball decorated with a Phoenix and Dragon which symbolize Happy Omens (Longfeng chengxiang) dangle from chains at the bottom. The necklace and pendant which are still in perfect condition date from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Length of the chain 48 cm. Pendant height 6.0 cm. Width 6.1 cm. Depth 1.7 cm.
