Very small silver pendant which is shaped as a baby Boy who carries an object which we believe is a Gold bar (Wealth). He has a Bottle gourd on his back which symbolizes Blessings and Fertility. This pendant was most probably a wedding gift. In Chinese culture the absence of sons was a disaster. Wearing a small charm in the shape of a baby boy was supposed to ensure the arrival of a son. This charming small figure dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 2.8 cm. Width 1.5 cm. Depth 0.8 cm.
