Gilt silver hat ornament in the shape of an Immortal armed with a pair of scissors. The cloud base on which he is standing identifies him as an Immortal. Scissors were meant to cut off ties with evil spirits and protect the child wearing this ornament on its hat. Someone converted this amusing hat ornament into a brooch and pendant. The ornament dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 4.0 cm. Width 2.2 cm. Depth without pin 1.4 cm.
