Silver belt ornament in the shape of a Butterfly (Blessings & Happiness), hovering over a Melon (Fertility). Hanging from the Butterfly is a small bell in the shape of a Pomegranate, the many seeds of which represent a wish for many sons. The ornament is hallmarked with the name Lao Bao Yuan (老寳元) and has two small characters on top which read An Qing (安慶). It dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 13.5 cm. Butterfly height 3.7 cm. Width 4.7 cm.
