Silver neck chain and attachment hooks in the shape of Fu dogs also known as Buddhist lions. Buddhist lions symbolize Harmony, Blessings and Protection as well as High Rank. The Lions at the ends of the chain have hooks which went into buttonholes at the top of an apron. Aprons started to be popular during the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1912) and they remained fashionable in the following centuries. The silver buttons are hallmarked with the name Yong Chun (永春) who was most probably the silversmith who made them. The links of the chain are shaped as Coins which symbolize Wealth. The chain which is of a very good quality dates from the end of the Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Chain: Length 50 cm. Width 1.4 cm. Hooks: Width 3.9 cm.
