Embossed silver ornament depicting a Boy holding a Peach (Offspring & Longevity) sitting on a Lotus flower (Continuous Harmony). Attached are two chains and another ornament in the shape of Lozenges. A Lozenge (fang sheng 方胜) is one of the ‘Eight Treasures’. Two interlocked diamond-shaped Lozenges can represent two hearts joined together. We have no idea what this ornament was used for but it may originally have been attached to a belt. It dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 10.5 cm. Width 4 cm.
