Silver Japanese one yen coin. This Japanese coin was used in China as it has Chinese chop marks confirming that it is silver. The coin has a purity of 900 (90%) and dates from 1897. It entered our collection from Fujian province where it was most probably used for payments between Chinese traders around the beginning of the 20th century. Diameter 3.8 cm. Depth 0.28 cm.
