Silver waist ornament with four chain attachments, each of which carries a Seal (symbol of a High Position), a Pomegranate (Many children) and a fish (Abundance). Characters on the seals mention ‘Tian Zi Men Sheng (天子门生) or ‘The emperor selects the First Candidate (of the Civil Service Exams). On the bottom is the character Yin (印) which means ‘Stamped’. The pendant dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 10.5 cm.
