Silver amulet in the shape of a flat lock with a protruding edge. It is engraved on one side with the text ‘Tian Chang Sheng Mu, Guo Ji Fu Ren, Zhu Sheng Lang Bi’ and on the other side with ‘Xuan Tian Shang Di , Da Bo Gong’. Xuan Tian Shang Di is a God who protects people. On one side the text is bordered by Chrysanthemum flowers which are a symbol of Longevity as these flowers have healing properties. We have not been able to identify the three leaves on the other side but they may have had medicinal properties as well. The Lock dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Width 5.0 cm.
