Small flat silver lock engraved on one side with a Chrysanthemum flower (health). Its leaves reveal that it is a Chrysanthemum and not a Lotus as we thought at first. On the other side is a Peony (Wealth & Honor). Chrysanthemum ( juhua) and Peony (mudan) are a pun ‘May you enjoy a long life, wealth and honor’ (changshou fugui). The Lock dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 2.2 cm. Height 1.9 cm. Depth 0.1 cm.
