One side of this silver lock is decorated with auspicious symbols such as the Peony (Wealth and Honor), Melons (many children) and a funny looking Butterfly (Blessings and Joy). On the other side is the text ‘Chang Ming Fu Gui’ (长命富贵) which means ‘Long life and Prosperity’. Attached are two bells with Plum flowers (Five Blessings) on them. The lock is not marked and dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 5.4 cm. Height 4.7 cm. Depth 2.0 cm. Weight 35.8 grams.
