Silver necklace and lock decorated on one side with a yet unidentified flower. At first we thought it was a peony, symbol of Wealth and Honor, but the long tendrils are confusing. On the other side of the lock are four Chinese characters which form the expression ‘Chang Ming Fu Gui’ (长命富贵) which means Long Life and Prosperity. A Bat adds Blessings and Riches. The lock is marked Heng Xing (恒兴) who may have been the silversmith or the retailer. The lock dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 32 cm. Lock: Width 6.7 cm. Height 5.0 cm. Depth 1.0 cm.
