Silver lock depicting an old man, possibly the God of Longevity Shou Lao, and a boy with flowering branches on both sides. They are flanked by two facing Dragons which are a pun ‘Happiness when meeting again’ (xi xiangfeng). On the other side of the lock are the characters for ‘Long Life and Prosperity’ (Chang Ming Fu Gui) also flanked by Facing Dragons. Under the text are Osmanthus flowers symbolizing a wish for Distinguished sons. The lock has an indistinct and illegible mark and dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 6.2 cm. Height 4.7 cm. Depth 0.7 cm.
