Figure with a scroll – (2590)
[2590]

Very small gilt silver hat ornament in the shape of an amusing figure who holds a scroll in his hands. The fact that he is standing on clouds tells us that he is an Immortal. Is he the ‘Heavenly Official’ (tianguan) who is often depicted holding a scroll? The ornament is marked on the back Dong San Kou (东三口) who may have been the silversmith or the retailer. It dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Height 2.7 cm. Width 1.2 cm. Depth 1.1 cm.
