One of the Eight Immortals – (2190)
[2190]

Gilt silver hat ornament in the shape of a man with long whiskers. We are almost certain that it is one on the Eight Immortals as he is standing on clouds. The cloud base refers to an Immortal or a God but he cannot exactly be identified without an attribute in his hands. Most hat ornaments depict the Eight Immortals and occasionally the God of Longevity, Shou Lao. The ornament dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Height 3.1 cm. Width 1.7 cm.
