Gilt silver hat finial in the shape of a boy standing on a lotus pod. The lotus pod symbolizes Fertility and the boy represents a wish for many male descendants. This cute finial graced the hat of a young boy and his parents apparently wished him lots of children at a very early age. The finial dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Height 4.5 cm. Diameter at its widest point 3.2 cm.
