Gilt silver two-pronged partly enameled filigree hairpin. Filigree is a method of soldering thin silver or gold threads together to form a very delicate surface. The filigree of this hairpin is shaped as coins which symbolize Wealth. The decoration comes in the form of flowers in blue green colors, a Butterfly (Blessings & happiness), a Bee (Noble rank) and a Melon (Fertility). It dates from the end of the Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 19 cm. Width 2.5 cm.
