Hairpins with roosters – (6153)

Pair of small silver hairpins in the shape of roosters holding chains with little bells in their beaks. The Rooster is a symbol of High Rank because the crest on its head (jiguan) is a pun for ‘Official’ (guan). One rooster has been reattached. The hairpins date from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total Length ca 11 cm.
