Very small and lightweight silver hairpin embossed with a scene of four men on a boat. A boat (chuan) is a pun for ‘Pass’ (chuan) as in passing on a high position from one generation to another. Six small bells dangle from thin chains. The hairpin dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total Length ca 7 cm. Width boat 2.2 cm.
