Extremely fine silver charm chain which used to dangle from a long hairpin. Depicted are a boot, a triangular shape and an unknown object with a flower. Originally these items were completely adorned by the bright blue feathers of the Kingfisher bird but most of these are gone. Shoes (xiezi) are a pun for ‘Together’ (xie). At the bottom is an unknown object, perhaps a Butterfly (Blessings & happiness), a Chrysanthemum flower (Longevity) and two bells shaped as rudimentary Peaches (Long Life). The charm chain dates from the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Length 15.5 cm. VERY RARE.
