Gilt silver hairpin decorated with Plum flowers of which the five petals represent the Five Blessings, Old Age, Health, Wealth, Love of Virtue and a Peaceful death. It is marked Zan Jin Tai (昝锦泰) who may have been the silversmith or retailer. The gilding of this item is somewhat worn due to its age. The Art Deco-like decoration between the flowers makes us believe that the hairpin dates from the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 8.7 cm. Width 0.9 cm. Depth 0.2 cm.
