Silver hairpin with a twisted stem and five small jadeite (Fei Tsui) charms attached by fine chains. The pin is topped by an ear scoop. The charms are in the shape of two fish leading to the pun ‘May you have a happy marriage, many children and lots of good luck’ (shuangyu jiqing). Furthermore there is a Peach (Longevity), a Pomegranate (Many sons) and a Persimmon (shi) which is a homophone for ‘Business’ (shi). The hairpin dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 14.5 cm.
