Extremely fine silver charm chain which used to dangle from a long hairpin. It is more than likely that the objects attached to this charm chain were once adorned with the bright blue feathers of the Kingfisher bird but these are gone. Depicted are a Musical stone (qing) which is a pun for ‘Celebrate’ or ‘Auspicious Happiness’, a Butterfly (Blessings & Happiness) and a Basket (Longevity & Abundance). Each side of the basket is decorated with an Osmanthus flower (Distinguished sons). The charm chain dates from the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Length ca 15 cm.
