Small silver grooming set with two medallions. The top one depicts a squirrel and a melon which symbolize Prosperity and much offspring. Two red agate fruits look like a stretched pomegranate (Many children) and a peach (Long Life) but we are not completely sure about this. The other, slightly larger, medallion shows a monkey with a peach which forms the pun ‘May you embrace Immortality’. The utensils consist of a sword to ward off evil spirits, two picks and an ear scoop. The set dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947) and is quite nicely made. Length 22 cm. Height monkey medallion 2.2 cm.
