Silver grooming set which incorporates a silver ‘quarter guilder’ from the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia). The coin is dated 1826 and shows the image of King Willem I of the Netherlands on the other side. ‘Nederlandsch Indië’ as the Dutch called it was a colony until the independence of Indonesia in 1945. An enamelled boat with two small sailors inside is attached to five ‘tools’, consisting of an ear scoop, a fork and three picks. The unusual ornamentation of this grooming set indicates that it dates from the 19th century. Total length 38.5 cm. Boat size: Height 3.6 cm. Width 3.6 cm. Depth 0.9 cm.
