These charms and their very fine silver chains originally dangled from the ends of long hairpins. They are made of jade, carnelian and enameled silver en depict a butterfly, a fish, a basket, a bird, a musical stone ‘Qing’ and a spider, all of which have an auspicious meaning. Somebody collected these chains to enhance this grooming set which has three utensils, two pickers and an ear cleaning scoop. It dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Total Length 29 cm.
