Small silver tongue scraper which originally may have been part of a grooming set as there is a short chain attached. The spoon is engraved with a peony blossom, symbol of Wealth and Honour. There is a hallmark on the back of the spoon but unfortunately we can’t make it out. Tongue scrapers served to clean the tongue of their owners and were also used to look into their throats. It dates from the end of the Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 8.8 cm. Width 2.4 cm. Depth 0.2 cm.
