Silver grooming set decorated with three medallions in openwork. The top one depicts an osmanthus flower which symbolizes the wish for Distinguished sons. The central one is a chrysanthemum which represents Longevity because of its health-giving qualities. The bottom one is a melon or pumpkin which both stand for Fertility because of their numerous seeds. The attachment ‘hook’ is interesting as it can be screwed close. The utensils consist of tweezers, a toothpick and an ear scoop. The tweezers are hallmarked. The grooming set dates from the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 38 cm.
