Silver bangle decorated in great detail with squirrels and grapes which was most probably given as a wedding present. Squirrels have great reproductive power and grapes grow in large clusters so the combination of the two is symbolic for ‘Longevity and countless descendants’. The well-made bracelet is still in wonderful condition. It was made at the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) or early Republic Period (1912 – 1947) and is hallmarked with a name which is not completely clear but most probably reads ‘Yi Sheng’. Inside diameter 6.2 x 5.6 cm. Width 1.7 cm. Weight 32 grams.
