Silk pin cushion in the shape of a boy lying on his belly. The head of the boy forms the cushion and the body serves as a space to store embroidery items. This can be closed with a ribbon. In Chinese culture it was a disaster when no son was born to carry on the family name. Depictions of boys were said to ensure the arrival of a son and the boy motif was therefore used on many utensils. This cute item only suffers from a bit of discoloration and is still in excellent condition despite its age. It dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Length 12 cm. Width 9 cm.
