Silk fan cover embroidered on the dark blue side with different flowers on a branch which all have auspicious meanings. The top is shaped like Ruyi (Everything you wish for) scepter. The tassels are shaped as Endless knots (Panchang) which are one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism and symbolize ‘Infinity’ and ‘Longevity’. The fan cover dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912) or early Republic (1912 – 1947). Length without tassels 21 cm. Width 4.7 cm.
