Large silk embroidered collar for a lady. Depicted are auspicious symbols such as Plum blossoms of which the five petals represent the Five Blessings, Longevity, Wealth, Health, Love of virtue and a Peaceful Death, Peonies (Wealth and Honor), Cymbidium flowers (Friendship and Grandsons), Chrysanthemums (Longevity), Weeping willows (Female Beauty), Waves and Rocks (May de Kingdom be unified), Wheels (Perfection), a Bat (Blessings) as well as two ladies at a fence (Three times) and an official speaking to a lady with a child on her arm. The official, recognizable by his hat, is standing on a strange animals which could be a crab. The meaning of this is unknown to us. The collar has a minor water stain and dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Width 45 cm.
