Bronze black mirror decorated with 4 knobs around the centre and 20 smaller ‘nipple-shaped’ dots. These knobs are usually called ‘nebula’ and are thought to represent star constellations. However another explanation may be that they depict heavenly clouds of the celestial realm where divinities dwell. The mirror dates from the Western Han period (BC 206 – 25AD). Diameter 10.5 cm. Thickness of the rim 0.44 cm. Weight 188.1 grams. PRICE ON REQUEST.
