These food containers were exported from China in large numbers during the 18th and 19th centuries and are commonly known as ginger jars. Very often their porcelain lids are missing as in this case. It dates from the middle of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 15.5 cm. Diameter jar 16 cm. Diameter base 14 cm.
