Small porcelain bottle and plug decorated in blue and white with scholars relaxing under a tree. In the background is a table with an incense burner. We believe that these small bottles were used to store medicine but we are not sure. There is a mark on the bottom 光绪年制 (Guang Xu nian zhi) which means ‘made in the Guangxu period’ (1875 – 1908) and we believe that it is of the period. However it is difficult to judge its age so it may be of a later date. Whatever the date of manufacture may be, the quality and workmanship are of a high standard. Height 7.4 cm. Diameter 3.8 cm.
