Porcelain candle stand decorated with four Chinese characters in blue and white. These candle stands were made of solid clay (kaolin) which made firing a tricky business often resulting in firing cracks. Most of them have some chips or fritters as they had a hard life. This one is still in rather good shape apart from some rim chips. It dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 6.5 cm. Diameter 7.5 cm.
