Square porcelain candle stand decorated in blue in white with a Chinese text, most probably a poem. These candle stands were made out of solid clay (kaolin) which made firing a tricky business often resulting in firing cracks. Most of them have some chips or fritters as they had a hard life. This one is still in very good shape apart from some minor chips. It dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 6.0 cm. Width & Depth 4.5 cm.
