Shoushan-stone seal carved by the well known Chinese painter, calligrapher and carver Qian Juntao (1907 – 1998) from Zhejiangtongxiang Village. We believe that he carved this seal around 1950 but it could also date from the late Republic period (1912 – 1947). Depicted is a fisherman in a boat surrounded by mountains. We were able to acquire a whole set of seals by Qian Juntao during a visit to Shanghai in 1993. They came from a private collection. Height 5.9 cm. Width 1.7 cm. Depth 1.4 cm.
