Large bronze ferrule (zun) inlaid with silver. The end resembles an animal’s hoof. Originally it was attached to the base of a lacquered wooden pole of an axe or halberd. Such weapons were largely used for ceremonial purposes and were quite common during the Eastern Zhou period (770 – 221BC). Length 18.3 cm. Width 4.5 cm. Depth 2.6 cm. PRICE ON REQUEST
