Bronze scroll weight in the shape of a lying hound. The recumbent animal is modeled with its fanged muzzle held up in an alert position, a curly mane down its neck, its forepaws crossed, the spine defined with circular bosses, the bushy tail coiled round the hindquarters. In China a dog symbolizes Future Prosperity. We were told that this scroll weight dates from the Qing period (1644 – 1912) but we are not sure.
